Our descent was now armed with a new challenge i.e. how to get past the numerous yak herds on the narrow paths without getting impaled or slipping in their dung - both not great ways to go !
At the bottom of our descent we crossed a huge suspension bridge that bucked and swayed before continuing that all familiar ritual of a big steep climb to lunch and Monika's favorite meal the wholesome vegetable soup called Sherpas stew !
Our continued climbing after lunch over another pass brought a definite feeling of inadequacy as we were passed by numerous lunatics participating in a marathon race to Lukla - some were incredibly running in steep sections that we could barely walk in !
Our final climb of the day to Bupsa was incredibly steep as we passed through Sherpa villages and guest houses that signalled this was once the main trekking trail until Lukla Airport was opened !

We finally arrived in the gloom salivating when we entered our Hotel to the sign that indicated that they had a hot shower - you can't believe how we smell !
We had the best ever Sherpa stew for dinner to signal the end to another tiring day !
Michael -
Can now certainly feel fitter climbing the steep paths after numerous days trekking as manage 53 feet without stopping instead of the 50 I used to !
It is really difficult to keep the right temp at times as too few clothes make it cool but layers make you sweat heaps - same with sun hat keep it on sweat heaps take it off get sun burnt !
Good to see Monika better today even if she has on more bandages than an Egyptian mummy ! !
Monika -
Better on feet today without shedding any tears !
Learning how too give way to yaks and mules as one pushed me into the hedge !
So loved a hot shower at the end of the day - most times it is a quick cold water splash in a sink and at times when a sink doesn't exist we have to resort to baby us wipes for a wash !
As for our clothes the only smell good option we have is baby powder for those smelly sweat drenched socks and undies !
