T-1 Day 2 - Kathmandu

You know you are in Kathmandu when the footpath you are walking on ends and becomes the main road requiring a degree of nerve + 360 degree rotating eyes to continue ones journey !

Well rested and fed we ventured into Thamel with Deepak mid morning to tackle the trekking shops and it didn't take long to complete our list with the word "down" seeming to dominate suggesting either a) an over supply of geese in Nepal or b) there's a good chance it's going to get bloody cold !

Regardless the bill was about a 1/3 of what you'd pay in OZ so if the stuff works we'll be happy to have scored a bargain.

Lunch was at the nearby famous Rum Doodle bar where trekkers and climbers from all over the world celebrate their success by adding their own "big foot" to the thousands present including one ridiculous one celebrating a Nepalese Sherpa who ascended Everest from base camp in 10 hours.
In 3 weeks we hope to add our very own !

So with bags packed we take the long road journey to Jiri at dawn tomorrow to start our trek working our way over the next 7 days to Lukla at 3,000+ metres.
